The largest international survey of the late painter and Underground Museum co-founder’s work to date gathers more than 60 of his creative, enigmatic, and deeply personal paintings of Black life and the beloved communities that surrounded him reveling in dream-like joy. Once the exhibition wraps up in January, it will travel to the Barbican in London and the Hammer Museum in Los Angeles.
