In the 1960s, members of the radical Italian design collective Superstudio began speculating on how to inhabit a world forever transformed by capitalism and technology. Though few of Superstudio’s proposals ever came to fruition, its witty photo collages—some overly absurd, others utopian—were widely published and helped carve out new possibilities for architecture and urban planning. Spanning installations, drawings, film, and industrial design objects, this exhibition sheds new light on the group’s wide-ranging portfolio, including some works that haven’t been displayed for 15 years and are on loan from the Centre Pompidou.
