Many know Salvatore Ferragamo as the influential footwear designer for the likes of Marilyn Monroe and Audrey Hepburn; few are familiar with his wife, Wanda, who transformed the Florence workshop into a global luxury brand over six decades as president and honorary chairman after her husband’s passing in 1960. Through objects, clothing, and photographs, this exhibition delves into how the Ferragamo matriarch collaborated with her daughters Fiamma, Giovanna, and Fulvia to design dynamic daywear suited for the changing roles of women in postwar Italy. “We women do everything,” Wanda Ferragamo once wrote to her grandchildren. “It doesn’t matter what or where our office is.”
