On Oct. 29 at Chicago's James Hotel, Surface and Bang & Olufsen hosted Design Dialogues No. 12 with a conversation between Chicago cultural affairs commissioner Michelle Boone, artist Paula Crown, and Bang & Olufsen North America president Kathy Thornton-Bias.
In October 2014, Surface + Pratt Institute presented Design Dialogues No. 11 with New York Times architecture critic Michael Kimmelman and architect Annabelle Selldorf.
Surface hosted the ninth edition of our Design Dialogues talk series at Hôtel Americano in Manhattan's Chelsea neighborhood. Mexico City–based architect Michel Rojkind, founding partner of Rojkind Arquitectos, and Danish-born architect Bjarke Ingels, founding partner of Bjarke Ingels Group (BIG), joined executive editor Spencer Bailey on stage.
Neuehouse hosted Surface magazine's Design Dialogues No. 8 featuring interior designer Adam D. Tihany and chef Daniel Boulud, moderated by Surface's executive editor, Spencer Bailey. Tihany and Boulud discussed how Le Cirque New York and its owner, Sirio Maccioni, helped launch their careers in the '80s; how design informs food and vice versa; and what their personal tastes are. On Tuesday, Surface hosted a dinner with Fashion From Spain at Omar's La Ranita in Manhattan. A cocktail hour before the dinner included a showcase of pieces from five Spanish designers and brands: Anton Heunis Accessories, Zuzunaga Studio, Custo Barcelona, Almu lingerie, and El Naturalista.
